The Team

The Wheatsheaf is a vibrant and laid-back country pub, located just outside the country village of Henfield, West Sussex. A friendly social hub where guests can pop in for a drink or sit down to enjoy a home-grown meal, made from locally sourced quality ingredients.


Our food takes a quality modern European approach, with a Brazilian twist. Our kitchen team have more than 20 years’ experience in the industry and have trained in top kitchens, all the way from New York City, London and São Paulo.

Born in the rural area of Minas Gerais, Brazil, chef proprietor Nilton Campos grew up on a farm where he cultivated and harvested organic fruits, vegetables and pulses. This remains his passion and second nature. Nilton, has received brilliant reviews and feedback from leading food critics all over the world.

Working alongside Nilton is Karen Gold, the manageress and Carlos the head chef. Karen has over 20 years of experience working and running pubs in the area as well as Brighton and London.

Her innovative and creative approach together with exceptional social skills and flair makes her a valuable addition to this venue.

Carlos has worked alongside Nilton for the past 10 years, he has vast knowledge in the industry and together they have run a number of venues in London before relocating to the country. He also grew up on a farm back in Brazil and shares the same passion for quality and locally sourced ingredients and even grow some of their own ingredients in the pub garden.

Alongside Nilton is his daughter Naiomi who has 10 years of hospitality experience. She works with Nilton to keep the Wheatsheaf dream alive.

Together, Nilton, Karen, Carlos and Naiomi invite you to come and join them in the making of this energetic, vibrant and laid back venture that is the Wheatsheaf Pub.
